Haiger lies in the north of the Lahn-Dill district between Wetzlar and Siegen and is by area the largest town in the district. Besides the core town Haiger includes 13 districts, among them Sechshelden, Langenaubach, Flammersbach and Offdilln. The Heller rises in the Haiger-Kalteiche commercial and industrial area. The town looks back on a long iron-processing history: in 1457 the first Haiger iron smelter is mentioned.
